Dr. Sofia Gavridou

Dr. Sofia Gavridou is a consulting structural engineer and a Lecturer at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Her research experience includes large-scale structural testing, seismic design and analysis of conventional RC structural systems and innovative self-centering systems. Since 2015, she has been working on structural peer reviews of high-rise buildings in California and has served as an expert consultant on evaluation and retrofit of several existing tall and special projects. Her teaching at UCLA is focused on nonlinear analysis and design of reinforced concrete systems, with a focus on state-of-the-art, performance-based seismic design procedures for tall buildings.
