Atila is a Senior Principal with Degenkolb, and the firm-wide Design Practice Area Leader. As an industry-renowned structural and seismic specialist, he collaborates with owners, architects and contractors by rapid-optioneering of structural concepts to drive cost-effective solutions. 

Atila specializes in earthquake-resistant analysis and the design of structures in structural steel, reinforced concrete, reinforced masonry, and timber. Following the damage observed during the 1994 Northridge earthquake, Atila was responsible for the development of an alternate steel moment connection. He led the analytical and experimental work in the development of the “reduced beam section” concept. The six full-scale specimens successfully tested at UC San Diego in 1995 were the first ones to be tested in the US.
